Some drama updates

Hello, folks! Sorry I haven’t been updating this blog for a while now. I’m still watching dramas but perhaps not as often as I would like. Here are some dramas I’ve seen in the past months and I actually liked/finished watching:

1. Gourmet – K-drama about food and restaurants, and some lovin’. I just love food, so this one’s a keeper in my book.

2. Boss - Oh my, I just love the cast, especially the leads: Amami Yuki and  Takenouchi Yutaka. This is a crime/police drama kinda thing. Also the stories are quite similar to Mr. Brain. Nonetheless, I still found it interesting and somewhat funny. There are some big names in the guest list, and there’s a point when there’s a beach boys reunion. hehehe.. Oh, good thing I looked at the wiki page or else I may have missed the last episode. *whew*

3. Mr. BrainKimutaku! Whatelse can I say. It’s a police/scientific drama about an outstanding brain scientist. He got a job in some crime investigation lab. On one hand, knowing that the lead is played by Kimutaku, it’s the same old story — exeptional (occupation) — helps change/touches  the outlook/lives of people, etc etc. On the other hand, because Kimutaku is there, you’d know it’s another quality dorama. Anyway, I’m enjoying this as well. It’s also good to see big shot guest stars.

There are several more dramas I’ve watched but at some point I got tired of watching, for one reason or another. They’re: Tenchijin, Triangle….. not sure what else I watched.

I’m looking forward to another season of 24 Hours Emergency Ward, Manhattan Love Story…. any other suggestions?

Updates

I haven’t updated this blog for a while. I haven’t been watching doramas as of late, as a consequence of my personal life and the lack of updated subtitiled episodes of the shows I chose to watch.

Lately I’ve been watching American and British shows. My boyfriend (yes, I know!) had introduced me to these shows. I made him watch Tiger and Dragon once but obviously he did not like it. So I never dared showed him another of my doramas. I guess Tora to Ryuu caters more to “sophisticated” dorama addicts and not good for newbies. Then again, he’s different in so many ways and i don’t think he’d appreciate j-dorama.

Anyhoo, he introduced me to interesting shows. Show enjoyed by nerd, geeks, dorks, and freaks. Here are the ones I liked (and can remember):

Here are some that I thought were also interesting:

Now we’re also watching Freaks and Geeks. And… Pushing Daisies and Heroes! Go Sylar!

Atsuhime and my favorite actors

•July 21, 2008 • Leave a Comment

I’ve finally decided to watch Atsuhime. It’s just my second day of watching it and I’m already on my 8th episode! Yes, I love this taiga dorama very very much! I love the story, the characters, and the actors and actresses playing the roles. This is just great!!!! Love it!

As for my favorite Japanese actors, I’ve decided these guys are my faves so far…but not in particular order…

1. Kimura Takuya – come on, this guy just have “it”. Almost all his doramas are wonderful even though on the surface it looks like there is just one theme. That he’s playing the same role over and over again but with different occupations. But seriously, the end products are good? The stories, I’ve no complaints. The cast… fantastic. What more can you ask for?

2. Abe Hiroshi – Who doesn’t love this guy? Come on! He is soooo perfect in breaking the seriousness of any dorama! He acts so well, and he’s darned funny. He’s very convincing too. All the roles he played, I loved! An exceptional actor!

3. Takenouchi Yutaka – this guy, is steamin! He’s hot! Not only that, he acts really really well, and made a lot of memorable doramas.

4. Fujiki Naohito – I haven’t seen a lot of his doramas. But I started loving this guy only (and loved him most) in Hotaru. I also liked him in Around 40. Though he creeped me out in Pro Dai. I also found his character in Antique interesting. This guy is good.

5. Eita – I thought it’s Satoshi Tsumabuki that I love but I was wrong, it was Eita. Although he’s mostly a “major secondary character” he shines everytime. He also takes the “weirdest? characters of them all and he plays them all well. Though i don’t find his “hotness factor” that high, his overall persona is still at the top.

6. Eguchi Yosuke – the first Japanese actor I decided as my favorite. This guy exudes a great aura and commands respect, he’s the ultimate ultimate something.

Sigh….

Long time…

Yes, it’s been a long time since I’ve updated my blog. I’m really really sorry I neglected this when I got addicted to my alter-ego… nothing good came out of my obsession anyway. Sigh… well, even if I had been neglecting this, I haven’t neglected watching my doramas.

Lately I had been watching *spinster* doramas. It started with Dal Ja. In so many ways, I think I can related to Dal Ja most (compared to other spinster doramas I’ve seen). However, Dal Ja’s still more experienced than I. I so can relate to the conflicts she feels when she’s placed in an unfamiliar situation (i.e. falling in love). The reasoning she used to explain her reactions. Anyway, it’s a very good dorama, kulang na lang guwapong papa! hehehe

I’ve also seen Around 40. There’s still about 9 years for me before I can relate to this dorama. However, you see the contrast between a younger and older woman. You see how much more secure Satoko is and although she has that “ideal” (kekkon), she has developed, or would evolved be a better description?, herself and did not make “kekkon” the center of her life. Besides the good story, who can beat the cast? Come on, Amami Yuki, Fujiki Naohito, Otsuka Nene, etc. Perfect, perfect cast.

Oh, have I blogged about coffee prince? I did enjoy this a lot! Gong Yoo, he’s steamin’! I also liked Yoon Eun Hye here. I like it better when she’s boyish. It’s so… becoming. I don’t know, I felt here she had more personality than in Goong, though I did like Goong. I guess I just tire of the usual portrayal of uber beautiful women, then coffee prince comes showing this beautiful heroine albeit unconventionally.

Change! I wasn’t aware of this, thank goodness for jaycee for blogging about this. Another Kimutaku dorama. Eventhough it has the same old same old “Kimutaku theme” it’s still very addictive. I’m enjoying the story and everything about it. And it doesn’t hurt to have a catchy ending song. They used Madonna’s Miles Away.

What else am I watching… Oh yeah, Hataraki Man. I like it as well. I feel it refreshing to see Japanese women respected outside the home.

Oh well, that’s it for now. I hope I can update this more often.

Bones

It’s my turn to discover a good american drama. My friend recommended Chuck and Pushing Daisies. I haven’t really seen them yet, I heard about them but haven’t watch yet. Anyway, here’s what I recently discovered (and I knew about this show a long time now, just deadma before).

This is my first time to see an episode of Bones from start to finish and know what, I really enjoyed it! It’s a nerdy show in disguise. Bones is such a nerd! In addition, the people at her office (fellow scientists) are total geeks (looks and personality wise), or shall I say “evolved” geeks? All those personality in one show is totally hilarious. The investigation story lines are interesting already, then add the geeky banterings of each other (specially last night’s episode)– totally hilarious. Can you imagine Zach(?) the genius singing “Love is a many splendored thing”? And can you imagine Bones singing “Girls just wanna have fun”???? It’s a blast. The voices aren’t bad, just the manner that made them sing the songs, totally funny.

Anyway, if Bones is on sale I might buy the dvds. if not, then i’ll just borrow them. Shocks, must finish 24 season 3 asap!. Excited!

Dream Maker

Grabe. Sobrang active ng dreams ko since last weekend. At kahit naiistorbo yung tulog ko at the middle of the night, pagnakatulog ulit ako makakabalik ako sa dream land. Ang saya ano. Alam ko meron pa akong iba pang dreams, pero yan ang pinaka memorable sa akin.

Isa pang memorable dream eh a few nights ago. Then may raffle or something, tapos nanalo si Yamapi, trip to LA Disneyland. Bongga diba. Tapos, parang kinukulet at napilit ko syang isama ako. Tsk tsk tsk…

Kakaiba ano?

Sank You…

…is how people hear it when Japanese actors try to be cool and say “Thank You”. *Gomen*

Anyway, I had been having a Takenouchi Yutaka marathon in the past 2 weeks? He had a lot of great projects, and it helped that he’s so kakoi too.

Shotgun Marriage is the first. It was fine. The story is not so bad, it’s actually interesting. It’s a star studded dorama too. Lead by Takenouchi Yutaka (though he’s not too cute here) and Hirosue Ryoko… but I love the supporting cast… Abe Hiroshi, Ishida Yuriko, and Satoshi Tsumabuki! Hehehe… The acting is great as well, I hated Ryoko here, she’s so annoying but I was also able to sympathize with her character. In all, she played ‘Chiyo’ well. However, what’s disturbing for me is I watched this after Beach Boys. It’s just so cradle snatching….. Ewwwww….

Maware maware merry-go-round…. la la la la la love song…. Long Vacation has a really catchy theme song. I couldn’t get it of my head while watching the series. I’d go to the bathroom singing those verses… :) This one’s actually a Kimutaku dorama. Again, Yutaka isn’t so handsome here. I have to admit, Kimutaku had/has great projects. No matter how simple the stories or plots are or no matter how similar the plots of a lot of his drama are, he gives them his best. Say for example, one may say that the feeling awkward is easy to convey, anyone can do that. Thus, Kimutaku is not really acting. However, I beg to differ. I feel Kimutaku delivers the emotion (or whatever emotion) splendidly. You’ll feel what his character is going through no matter how simple that feeling is. I think that what makes him click. Moreover, the stories are well written and everything just falls into place. It’s a nice feel good story, a little light with no excessive crying. Ok, enough of praising Kimutaku, it should be about Yutaka, ne?

Ruri no Shima – Not so Takenouchi-san’s dorama, but it has a nice story. Feel good, as in Dr. Koto’s Clinic feel good. I cried some, but not as much as Dr. Koto’s. Though Ruri and the islander’s stories are touching as well. I wonder if this is the same island where Dr. Koto was filmed?I just hope next dorama Takenouchi makes, his character would not get Ruri’s character pregnant (like in Shotgun Marriage, ewwww). That’s just sick. ne?

With Love. Ah, You’ve got mail of Japan, though this might have been shown a couple of months earlier than the said american movie. What can I say, Yutaka is so kakoi!!! As in, kaka inlove! Grabe! Wooohh.. Ok, it has a feel good story. Predictable, has a bit slow pace, towards the middle of the series, each episode ends with a cliffhanger that will make you want to go and watch the next episode ASAP or you’ll die of anticipation. But I liked this dorama a lot.

Beach Boys – A Fan Girl’s Review

•December 19, 2007 • Leave a Comment

Beach Boys? EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Grabe, this is so gooooooooooooooooddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd! And so handsome………………..Lalo na si fafa Takenouchi Yutaka…….AAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh *pant pant pant* Hehehehe… Ayos ba?

This is a very light drama and more comedy dorama. Ka liga nito ang Lunch Queen in terms of simplicity of story and situation pati na rin in eye candy. Hahaha… Mga 9 years younger from Rondo, kaya super kawaii niya! Ang hunky hunky pa. Talagang pinagtyagaan kong panuorin to kahit low quality yung video. Pero nung makita ko sa medium quality na video, ay grabe, gusto kong sumigaw everytime na naka focus sa muka ni Yutaka ang camera. *sigh* Pang cute overload ang mokong… Hehehe, I’ve been hunting for more of his dorama. *So in love, in the center of the world*

Say Hello to Black Jack

•December 14, 2007 • 1 Comment

Don’t get me wrong, I love Satoshi Tsumabuki, but Say Hello to Black Jack is such a chore for me to watch. This is the kind of medical melodrama I don’t want to watch. I’m surprised I was able to force myself to watch this show halfway through (I guess I’d nothing to watch then). Really, I can’t believe how this got all those awards.

I find the story too boring. It focused too much on the main character. There’s no variety in it. There’s hardly any medical exhibitions. Politics is a drag. Really. This should be thrown out of the highest building. I can’t believe I’m even writing about this. Tsk tsk tsk…
